Legal IT support starts with a clear look at what you have
Your firm holds confidential client files, email and billing records. The systems behind them are the same ones every business relies on: computers, accounts, backups and whoever has the admin password. When a deadline is close, a locked account or a failed backup is not an IT problem. It's a firm problem.
In many firms, IT is a partner's side job or the office manager's. Some rely on an outside provider and can't see what has been done. Staff come and go, accounts pile up, and nobody is sure who can still get in. A free IT assessment gives you a clear picture of where your technology stands before you decide anything.
What we look at in a law firm
We look at your devices, your backups, your security basics and who holds the admin logins. In practice, that means plain questions. Where do your files live: on individual computers, on a server or in a cloud account? Is the backup running, and has anyone confirmed it can be restored? When an associate or paralegal leaves, who turns off their accounts? Then we plan the fixes.
When an assessment makes sense
It's a good fit when something has changed: a second office, a new partner, a partner preparing to retire or a firm merger. It also fits after a scare, such as a phishing email someone clicked, or when you simply can't say who has access to what. None of these needs to be urgent. If a change is coming, a clear picture of your technology makes it easier to plan.
Legal IT support, in plain terms
"Legal IT support" can mean many things. Here it means the IT every firm needs: computers, accounts, email, backups and security basics. We explain what we find in plain English, whether or not anyone at the firm is technical, and the roadmap is yours to use however you like.
Managed IT services for law firms, if you want them
The assessment is free, with no commitment. If you decide you want help with the fixes, Onward's managed IT service is month to month. What we offer a law firm is a local team in North Fort Myers that looks at the systems your firm depends on and explains what it finds in plain English. You can also take the roadmap and use it on your own. That choice is yours.
What the assessment is not
This is not a security audit or a compliance review. It doesn't certify compliance with any regulation or professional standard. It's an IT assessment: a look at how your technology is set up, with a roadmap for the fixes. It isn't legal advice, and it isn't an opinion on your firm's professional obligations. For those, rely on the advisers you already use.
